This 2026, the Solidarity Gala People in Red Barcelona<\/strong> celebrates its 16th edition, firmly established as an international benchmark. On Monday, 11 May 2026,<\/strong> the Museu Nacional d\u2019Art de Catalunya will once again host an evening where science, solidarity and the city of Barcelona come together.<\/p>\n

The Solidarity Gala remains committed to a clear purpose: raising funds to drive the clinical research led by the Foundation to Fight Infections, headed by Dr. Bonaventura Clotet.<\/strong> The Foundation works to develop innovative strategies that strengthen the immune system and help combat infections that are still responsible for one in every five deaths worldwide.<\/p>\n

Infections are among the most pressing challenges for science today and in the years to come. We currently face global threats such as the emergence of new pandemics, the rise of antimicrobial resistance, globalisation, climate change and natural disasters. All these factors contribute to the spread of infections that can only be stopped through more research.<\/p>\n

People in Red Barcelona continues to be a key event for securing the resources needed to develop pioneering scientific ideas. But this collective strength does not arise on its own: it is the result of the commitment of all the individuals, companies and organisations that believe in the Gala and in the Foundation\u2019s mission. Thanks to this support, the event grows, evolves and amplifies its impact year after year. The 2026 People in Red Barcelona<\/strong> Solidarity Gala rolls out a truly vibrant edition, headlined by a show hosted by S\u00edlvia Abril<\/strong> and Toni Acosta<\/strong>, with creative direction by El Terrat (The Mediapro Studio)<\/strong>. Expect an evening that weaves together comedy, live music and standout moments, featuring Joan Daus\u00e0<\/strong>\u2014who\u2019ll share a special set inspired by his Immortals<\/em> tour\u2014and Amaral<\/strong>, bringing an emotionally charged performance with undeniable stage presence. The celebration carries on with DJ Fede Sard\u00e0<\/strong> and signature cocktails by Manel Veh\u00ed<\/strong>, including an exclusive People in Red Barcelona creation.<\/p>\n

Culinary excellence returns under the guidance of chef Nandu Jubany<\/strong> and his team, who will craft a bespoke dinner for the occasion, true to their renowned standards.<\/p>\n

Ambassadors Martina Klein<\/strong> and Alex Corretja<\/strong> reaffirm their support for the Gala, helping amplify its
\nvisibility and international reach while strengthening backing for the Foundation to Fight Infections.<\/p>\n

This year also marks the launch of the People in Red Barcelona Solidarity Award<\/strong>, celebrating careers devoted to community health and social awareness. In its inaugural edition, the award goes to Eduardo Casanova<\/strong>, a filmmaker and creator recognised for his bold vision and his commitment to breaking stigma\u2014particularly after publicly sharing that he lives with HIV.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

For the second consecutive year, they will present an innovative performance during the aperitif on the iconic panoramic terrace of the MNAC, a spectacle that will undoubtedly impress everyone.
\nPeople in Red Barcelona will feature one of their latest artistic creations:\u00a0The Phoenix and the Bird<\/em>, a performance symbolizing the rebirth of our activity and the hope of continuing research after 15 years of People in Red Barcelona. A La Fura dels Baus acrobat will soar over the skies of Barcelona, captivating the audience with a musical performance that represents the rebirth of our ever-expanding and increasingly challenging research efforts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

MUSIC<\/strong><\/p>\n

This year, the Solidarity Gala takes on an international dimension as, for the first time in history, it will feature an artist traveling expressly from the United States to perform a unique act: Rufus Wainwright, who will play the piano and perform some of his greatest hits.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Rufus Wainwright, the acclaimed singer-songwriter, composer, and pianist of Canadian-American origin, is renowned for his unique style that blends baroque pop, opera, and folk.<\/p>\n

In addition to his career as a singer-songwriter, Wainwright has successfully explored other artistic genres: composing operas, collaborating with internationally acclaimed symphony orchestras, and creating film soundtracks. His talent for reinterpreting classics is exemplified in his version of Leonard Cohen\u2019s\u00a0Hallelujah<\/em>, among many others. He is also known for his activism in LGBTQ+ issues and for using his art as a platform to promote equality.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The show will also feature a groundbreaking performance by one of the most acclaimed national artists of the moment: Rigoberta Bandini<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The singer, songwriter, and writer, who gained popularity with what are now musical anthems such as\u00a0Ay, Mam\u00e1<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Perra<\/em>, has established herself as one of the most prominent woman in the current music scene. She stands out for her social critique and feminist advocacy through lyrics that celebrate freedom and everyday life. She is also known for her authentic style, which combines elements of electronic pop and literary influences.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

This entire show will be accompanied by an unforgettable gastronomic experience. Renowned Catalan chef Nandu Jubany<\/strong>, together with the Jubany Events<\/strong> team, will once again provide us with a Michelin-starred dinner.<\/p>\n

The celebrated chef is an unwavering supporter of the Foundation, and for the 8th consecutive year, he will bring his culinary excellence to the attendees, blending tradition and modernity with top-quality, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients.<\/p>\n

Jubany has held a Michelin star since 1998 with his restaurant Can Jubany in Calldetenes. Furthermore, he has expanded his culinary offerings with restaurants in Barcelona, Formentera, Andorra, and Singapore, as well as numerous other gastronomic projects.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

THE AMBASSADORS<\/strong><\/p>\n

This year, People in Red Barcelona will feature two honorary ambassadors: Martina Klein and Alex Corretja<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Klein and Corretja, a well-known media couple since 2010 who have attended the Solidarity Gala since its inception, are now taking their commitment to scientific research one step further. They represent our cause to make it more global and visible, contributing to increased fundraising for the Foundation for the Fight against Infectious Diseases.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Martina Klein<\/strong>, a model and actress, boasts an impressive career in the fashion world, having worked with international brands and establishing herself as a presenter and writer.<\/p>\n

Alex Corretja<\/strong> is a former professional tennis player who reached the No. 2 spot in the ATP world rankings. A two-time Masters Cup winner and two-time Roland Garros finalist, he is now a sports commentator and collaborates on initiatives related to sports and health.<\/p>\n

The model and the tennis player have chosen our Solidarity Gala for their first professional appearance as a couple.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
